We want you to have a successful transition from our program to your home. It's important that your puppy has all of his or her needs met. We recommend reading this book, The Forever Dog by Karen Becker DVM and Rodney Habib. It contains great information that can aide you in your life journey with your new family member. If you are on Facebook get more info from this amazing duo here. We have listed below quite a few of the products we use in our breeding program as well as products and nutrition for our adult dogs.
These are the items we use for all of our adult dogs and puppies.
We use this crate once the puppies are 6 weeks old. They get 10-14 days of crate training and should be able to be in the crate for up to 5 hours by the time they go home.
We love this pad because it doesn't hold hair and can be washed. They are super easy to clean in the tub and can be air dried.
Heelers love to sleep in dark quiet areas. We found that if their crate is covered they will sleep at the back when they need alone time. This cover is super easy to wipe down and keep clean.
We get the most questions about our dogs diet. Here are the supplements and resources we use.
We feed only kibble until they are 3-6 months old. We begin mixing with raw food around 3-6 months. Then we slowly transition and may keep the additional calories of the kibble up to age 2. Honest Kitchen can also be found at Petco and other pet suppliers. More information.
This is added to raw food to make sure they are getting the exact nutrients needed for their age and activity level. Use the Recipe Creator combined with the Meal Mix.
We use several natural limited ingredient treats including this one from Mercola. We also like natural jerky treats. Just watch the ingredients.
This is the joint supplement we use. There are a lot on the market, but this has no questionable additives.
Krill Oil is an important source for fatty acids and immune support.
Organic Fermented Food makes sure they get the vegetables they need even if they are a bit picky like our dogs.
Biodynamic Organic Hemp Oil for brain and cognitive function.
We are huge fans of the products made by Mercola as they are high quality, organic and sustainably sourced. Each of our dogs has different needs and we use too many to list all of them. If you have a question, we'd be happy to help you choose the right products for your puppy.
Heelers need to be kept busy or they will find trouble. These are our favorite products.
These are great while they are teething and mouthing everything in your home. They are tactile and squeaky, for enrichment. They can be cleaned, and we find they destuff them and drag them around for months. Just toss the stuffing and squeaker to keep the puppy safe. One is included in your puppy go home kit.
Kong makes balls that have the squeakers hidden deep inside to prevent choking.
Here are a few other toys used by our dogs. Most of them are safe and durable, however Heelers are power chewers and can destroy ANY toy. Lots of toys, bones and chews will save your home!
We get our bones locally, but this is what we use. They keep your dogs teeth clean if chewed regularly. Real beef bones for dogs with marrow are naturally rich in glucosamine and chondroitin to support your pup’s joint health. Marrow dog chew bones also support cardiovascular health, immunity and digestion.
